Compliance Countdown: EU product regulation timeline
The Compliance Countdown lists every EU product data milestone for PPWR, ESPR, the Digital Product Passport, GPSR, EUDR, the ECGT Directive and the European Accessibility Act. Each date links to EUR-Lex or the European Commission and is marked fixed or expected. The next fixed dates are 30 December 2026 for EUDR and 18 February 2027 for the battery passport.
Upcoming EU product regulation deadlines
The countdown shows every upcoming milestone for the seven EU instruments that set product data requirements, nearest first. How are the milestones sourced?
Every milestone comes from an adopted legal text on EUR-Lex or from an official European Commission or Council page. PIMvendors opens each source, records the date and keeps the link with the milestone.
The dataset covers seven instruments:
- PPWR, Regulation (EU) 2025/40.
- ESPR, Regulation (EU) 2024/1781.
- The Digital Product Passport under ESPR and the battery passport under Regulation (EU) 2023/1542.
- GPSR, Regulation (EU) 2023/988.
- EUDR, Regulation (EU) 2023/1115, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2025/2650.
- Directive (EU) 2024/825 on green claims and durability information.
- The European Accessibility Act, Directive (EU) 2019/882.
Where an official page gives only a quarter or a year, the countdown uses the last day of that period and says so in the detail line. Trade press is used only to report status, such as the PPWR labelling acts being overdue, and never as the sole source of a fixed date.
What do "fixed" and "expected" mean?
A fixed date is written in an adopted legal act or confirmed by the Commission as applying; an expected date still depends on a decision. The countdown labels every milestone with one of three values.
| Label | Meaning | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Fixed | Set in adopted law or confirmed as applying | EUDR applies on 30 December 2026 |
| Expected | Depends on a delegated or implementing act not yet adopted, or on an indicative Commission timeline | ESPR textiles delegated act, Q3 to Q4 2027 |
| Proposed | Part of a Commission proposal that has not been adopted | Green Claims Directive proposal, March 2023 |
Plan data model work against fixed dates. Track expected dates monthly, because they move: the PPWR labelling implementing acts were due by 12 August 2026 and were reported unpublished two weeks later.
How often is the countdown updated?
PIMvendors reviews the dataset at least monthly and within a week of any adopted act, postponement or amendment. Each regulation record shows its verification date, currently 14 October 2026.
Changes are logged with the old date, the new date and the source, so you can see what moved and why. When the Commission adopts a delegated act, its expected milestone becomes fixed and moves to the real date. When a proposal is withdrawn, its milestone is removed with a log entry.
How do you subscribe?
Download the ICS file from the countdown and import it into Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. Calendar apps that accept a subscription URL refresh the entries automatically.
Each calendar entry carries the regulation, the certainty label and the source link. To see which of these regulations apply to your business, use the compliance readiness check.
Plan data work against fixed dates and watch the expected ones. A delegated act that slips six months still needs the same attributes.
Frequently asked questions
How often is the Compliance Countdown updated?
PIMvendors reviews the milestone data at least once a month and within a week of any adopted act, postponement or amendment published in the Official Journal or announced by the Commission. Each regulation record carries a verification date. The current data was verified on 14 October 2026.
What does an expected date mean?
An expected date depends on a delegated or implementing act the Commission has not yet adopted, or on a date the Commission publishes as indicative. Examples are the ESPR textiles delegated act, listed for late 2027, and the PPWR harmonised label, which depends on overdue implementing acts. Expected dates can move in either direction.
Can I subscribe to the Compliance Countdown?
Yes. Download the ICS file and import it into Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar. Calendar apps that support subscriptions by URL refresh the file automatically, so changed dates appear without a new download. Each calendar entry includes the certainty label and the source link.
Why do some milestones fall on the last day of a quarter?
Some Commission timelines give only a quarter or a year, such as Q4 2026 for the iron and steel delegated act. The countdown then uses the last day of that period, labels the milestone expected and states the original wording in the detail line. When the act is adopted, the milestone moves to its real date.
