PIM vendors: a vendor-neutral directory of 18 PIM platforms

PIM Selection PIM vendor directory lists 18 PIM, PXM and MDM vendors in alphabetical order. Each vendor record shows facts checked against vendor and press sources on a stated date, plus a labelled editorial fit assessment. The directory has no sponsorship field, so no vendor can pay for position, and every record is reviewed each quarter.

How to read the PIM vendor directory

Each vendor card separates verified facts from editorial judgement. The facts block shows product name, founding year, headquarters, ownership, deployment options, pricing model and sources. The fit block is a labelled editorial assessment by PIMvendors, scored on simple 0 to 2 scales.

Read the facts first. They tell you whether a vendor can be bought, hosted and priced in a way your organisation accepts. A vendor that only runs as SaaS, or only publishes prices on quote, may fail procurement rules before any functional test.

Then read the fit block as a hypothesis. It shows where PIMvendors expects a vendor to perform well by company size, business model and data complexity. It also lists regions with clear presence and documented connectors. Empty fields marked as unverified mean the fact could not be confirmed on a source page, so the value was left blank.

This directory sits inside PIM Selection, the vendor-neutral PIM selection hub. It is one input to the evaluate stage, after requirements and before demos.

Why the directory lists vendors alphabetically

Alphabetical order is the only order that carries no opinion. Any ranking implies a buyer profile, and no single profile fits every manufacturer, distributor, brand or retailer.

Vendor neutrality is enforced in the data model. The vendor records contain no sponsorship, partner-tier or paid-placement field, so nothing in the data can lift one vendor above another. Commercial relationships are disclosed separately on the neutrality policy page.

You can sort or filter the list yourself by deployment, ownership type or published pricing. The default view always returns to A to Z. When you want a ranking, use the PIM Fit Finder, which ranks vendors against your own answers and shows why.

How vendor records are verified

Every fact on a vendor record comes from a source page that the editor opened and checked. Sources are listed on each record, with the vendor's own site preferred over third-party databases.

The verification cycle has three steps:

  1. Research and dating: The editor checks each field against vendor pages, press releases and reference sources, then stamps the record with a verifiedOn date.
  2. Vendor fact check: Before publication, each vendor receives its record to correct factual errors. Vendors cannot change editorial fit scores.
  3. Quarterly review: The full directory is rechecked every quarter. Acquisitions, rebrands and licence changes trigger an update between reviews and an entry in the market and vendor update log.

Published prices appear only when the vendor publishes them, with currency and the date they were seen. Estimates never enter a vendor record.

What changed in the PIM vendor market in 2025 and 2026

Seven vendors in this directory went through an acquisition, a change of majority owner or a licence change between May 2023 and July 2026. The table lists all seven in alphabetical order. These changes affect roadmaps, contract terms and support models, so they belong in your RFI.

Vendor Change Date
Centric PXM Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary, announced the acquisition of Contentserv; the product is now sold as Centric PXM February 2025
Informatica Acquisition by Salesforce completed November 2025
Perfion Acquired by Boyum IT Solutions May 2023
Pimcore Pimcore 12 moved the Community Edition to the POCL licence 2025
Quable Ibexa became majority shareholder December 2024
Salsify Agreed to be acquired by Cinven; closing not confirmed July 2026
Syndigo Acquired 1WorldSync; backed by Summit Partners, TJC and Battery Ventures September 2025

In PIMvendors selections, ownership changes are a standard RFI topic. Ask for the roadmap commitment, price protection and support model in writing.

How the directory connects to the Fit Finder, shortlists and comparisons

The directory holds the facts; the other tools apply them to a buying situation. All of them read from the same vendor records, so a correction made once appears everywhere.

None of these replace scenario-based demos. PIMvendors' scenario method asks shortlisted vendors to demonstrate real use cases on your own sample data, which is where differences between close candidates become visible.

Define your data model before you open a vendor list. Then let the directory and the Fit Finder narrow the field to a handful of names before any vendor demos.

Frequently asked questions

How many PIM vendors are in PIM Selection directory?

PIM Selection directory profiles 18 PIM, PXM and MDM vendors that PIMvendors meets most often in European selections. PIMvendors tracks 250+ PIM systems in total, so the directory is a curated subset. Vendors are added when buyer demand and available evidence justify a full record, and each addition is logged in the market and vendor update log.

Do PIM vendors pay to be listed or ranked in the directory?

No vendor pays to appear in PIM Selection directory or to change its position. The vendor data model contains no sponsorship, partner-tier or paid-placement field, and the list is alphabetical by default. Commercial relationships that PIMvendors has with vendors are disclosed on the neutrality policy page and have no input into vendor records or Fit Finder results.

How often is the PIM vendor information updated?

Every vendor record carries a verifiedOn date showing when its facts were last checked against vendor pages and press sources. Each vendor receives its record for a factual check before publication. The full directory is reviewed every quarter, and material events such as acquisitions or licence changes trigger an update between reviews.

What does an unverified field mean on a vendor record?

An unverified field means the editor could not confirm that fact on a source page during the last check. The value is left empty instead of estimated. Common examples are founding year, ownership detail or deployment options that the vendor does not publish. Buyers should ask the vendor to confirm these items in writing during the RFI.

Which PIM vendor is the best?

No single PIM vendor is best for every buyer. Fit depends on company size, business model, data model complexity, region, commerce and ERP ecosystem, and needs such as syndication or regulatory data. The PIM Fit Finder ranks vendors on those criteria, and scenario-based demos on your own data then decide between the shortlisted options.
