Enhanced content: definition and role in PIM
Enhanced content is a product content format that adds rich media and structured modules, such as comparison charts, feature images and videos, to a retailer or marketplace product page.
In PIM practice, enhanced content usually appears below the standard product information on retailer pages. Retailers and marketplaces define their own module templates, and brands deliver content through syndication tools, PXM modules or retailer portals.
Illustrative example: a kitchen appliance brand publishes enhanced content to three retailers: a feature comparison chart, a video and four lifestyle modules. The core data comes from the PIM, and the modules are assembled per retailer template.
In a selection, enhanced content matters for brands selling through retailers. Buyers should test template support for their main retailers, reuse of PIM data inside modules and the update route when product data changes. Enhanced content capabilities often come as separate modules or partner services. Images and videos used in modules need the same rights and expiry tracking as other assets.
