PIM SelectionThe independent guide to choosing a PIM

Centric PXM vs Stibo Systems: which PIM fits your situation

Centric PXM and Stibo Systems serve enterprise buyers from different starting points. Centric PXM, formerly Contentserv, is a product experience suite combining PIM, DAM, feed syndication and digital shelf analytics. Stibo Systems STEP is a multidomain MDM governing product, customer, supplier and location data. The deciding factor is whether channel-ready content or governed multidomain master data drives your business case.

Choose Centric PXM when

  • You want PIM, DAM, feed syndication and shelf analytics from one vendor.
  • Marketing and e-commerce teams drive the project and need channel-ready content fast.
  • You publish to many marketplaces and want a feed tool reaching 1,000+ channels.

Choose Stibo Systems when

  • You need product, supplier, customer and location data governed on one multidomain platform.
  • SAP material master integration and data governance drive the business case.
  • You want governed AI agents on master data through an MCP server.

The core difference

Centric PXM is built around channel-ready product content, while Stibo Systems STEP is built around governed master data across several domains. Both target enterprise buyers, and both have changed materially since 2025, as the PIM vendor directory records.

Centric PXM is the former Contentserv. Centric Software, a Dassault Systèmes subsidiary, announced the acquisition in February 2025 at an enterprise value of EUR 220 million. The suite combines Centric PIM, Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed for 1,000+ channels, Centric Digital Shelf Analytics and an onboarding portal for supplier and brand data.

Stibo Systems STEP covers product, customer, supplier, location and business partner data on one foundation. It runs as SaaS on Microsoft Azure or on-premise, but all feature updates are now exclusive to SaaS customers. Recent releases add an MCP Server, the AgentWorkx agentic AI engine and ProductGen AI.

PIMvendors has hands-on consulting experience with Stibo Systems STEP. The Centric PXM side of this comparison draws on public documentation and PIMvendors selection work.

Scenario by scenario

Five scenarios from the demo scenario library separate a PXM suite from a multidomain MDM. Run them with PIMvendors' scenario-based demo method on your own data.

SC-02: Supplier self-service onboarding with validation

Name two supplier personas with 20 products each. Centric PXM routes supplier and brand data through its Onboarding Portal with AI validation and mapping. Stibo Systems positions its Supplier Data Cloud for supplier data and onboarding. Check in both whether approved data reaches the core model without a manual transfer.

SC-14: Export a retailer or marketplace feed

Provide 500 products and one live retailer template. Centric PXM should show Centric Shoppingfeed, and Stibo Systems should show its syndication route. Ask who updates the mapping when the template changes.

Provide 300 images, 40 datasheets and 10 videos with SKU-coded file names. Centric PXM includes Centric DAM. Ask Stibo Systems to show the asset capability in the STEP scope you are quoted, or the DAM integration you would need.

SC-25: Create items from ERP with a clear master split

Provide 2,000 ERP items and state which attributes the ERP masters. Both vendors name SAP connectivity. Check that ownership is set per attribute and that enriched values survive the next sync.

SC-19: Generate channel descriptions with AI and approval

Provide 50 products, a tone guide and two channel length rules. Compare Centric PXM's AI with Stibo Systems' ProductGen AI, and fail either vendor if text goes live without approval.

Pricing model contrast

Neither Centric PXM nor Stibo Systems publishes a price list, so the comparison rests on scope. Both quote per customer.

Centric PXM sells a suite, so price depends on which modules you take: PIM, DAM, Shoppingfeed, Digital Shelf Analytics and the onboarding portal. With a new owner since 2025, ask for renewal caps and the roadmap of each module in writing.

Stibo Systems quotes STEP by the domains, modules and data volume in scope. On-premise buyers face an extra cost question, because new features ship to SaaS customers only. The Stibo Systems pricing page tracks what is known.

Cost driver Centric PXM Stibo Systems
Public list prices None None
Scope driving price PXM modules taken Domains, modules and data volume
Ownership or policy risk New owner since 2025 SaaS-only feature updates

The licence negotiation guide covers renewal caps and change-of-control clauses.

Migrating between Centric PXM and Stibo Systems

Migration between Centric PXM and Stibo Systems means moving between a content-centred and a governance-centred model. Plan a data model redesign before any data moves.

Map these elements first:

  1. Product attributes, value lists, units and localised values.
  2. Variant and relation structures, confirmed live on both sides.
  3. Assets with metadata, which leave or enter the Centric DAM.
  4. Channel feeds, which need rebuilding when you leave or join Shoppingfeed.
  5. Supplier and customer references, which become governed records in STEP.

On the contract side, check data export rights, SaaS migration terms for any on-premise STEP instance and an overlap period. The data migration guide covers the full sequence.

How to decide

Choose between Centric PXM and Stibo Systems on business owner, domain scope and channel reach. Neither platform is better overall.

  • Business owner: marketing and e-commerce ownership favours a closer look at Centric PXM, and data governance ownership favours STEP.
  • Domain scope: governed supplier, customer or location data favours STEP.
  • Channel reach: many marketplaces and feeds favour testing Centric Shoppingfeed in SC-14.
  • Ownership and policy: confirm Centric PXM's post-acquisition roadmap and STEP's SaaS-only implications in writing.

Put three items in writing before the final round. From Centric PXM, get the roadmap for each module you buy, the deployment options and the support model under Centric Software. From Stibo Systems, get the domains in scope, the quarterly update calendar and the support window for your version. From both, get the data export format, asset export with metadata and an overlap period. Then run PIM reference checks with at least one customer on each platform that went live after the 2025 changes.

Read the Centric PXM profile and Stibo Systems profile, then check fit in the PIM Fit Finder. Build the demo script from the demo scenario library.

Centric PXM and Stibo STEP are both enterprise platforms, but they answer to different owners in the business. Agree who owns product data before the demos, and score the scenarios that owner cares about.

Frequently asked questions

What happened to Contentserv?

Centric Software, a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, announced the acquisition of Contentserv on 25 February 2025 at an enterprise value of EUR 220 million. Contentserv then had over 1,600 customers in 90 countries. The product is now sold as Centric PXM, combining Centric PIM, Centric DAM, Centric Shoppingfeed and Centric Digital Shelf Analytics.

Is Centric PXM or Stibo Systems better for enterprises?

Neither Centric PXM nor Stibo Systems is better for every enterprise. Centric PXM suits enterprises that want channel-ready content, DAM and feeds from one vendor. Stibo Systems STEP suits enterprises that need product data governed with supplier, customer and location data. Test both with scenarios SC-02 and SC-14 on your own data before deciding.

Do we need a PXM suite or a multidomain MDM?

A PXM suite such as Centric PXM fits when the main goal is product content for channels: enrichment, assets, feeds and shelf analytics. A multidomain MDM such as Stibo Systems STEP fits when product data depends on governed supplier, customer or location records. Some enterprises run both, which needs a clear master split per attribute.

What should we confirm with Centric PXM after the ownership change?

Confirm the product roadmap for the modules you buy, the support model, contract terms and any planned changes to deployment options, all in writing. Ask how Centric PXM relates to Centric Software's PLM products if you run them. A change-of-control clause and renewal price caps protect a multi-year contract.

Is this comparison based on hands-on experience with both vendors?

PIMvendors has hands-on consulting experience with Stibo Systems STEP. Centric PXM falls outside the platforms PIMvendors has implemented, so the Centric PXM side of this comparison draws on public documentation and on PIMvendors selection work.
